How to Play Oasis Poker
Oasis Poker is a variant of Caribbean Stud Poker played at Australian online casinos. If you’re familiar with Video Poker or Five Card Draw poker, then you will have no problems playing this game.
Today you’ll learn how to play Oasis Poker along with a little basic strategy to help you win more at the game.
Basic Rules of Oasis Poker
Oasis Poker is a form of Five Card Draw poker that’s played against a dealer rather than other players. Prior to receiving cards, you will need to place an Ante bet on the board. Once the bet is placed, you will receive five cards face up. The dealer will also receive cards, with one face up and four face down.
After you receive cards, you can then choose whether you want to draw cards. You can draw up to five cards. For each card you draw, you will have to pay a bet equal to the ante. If you bet $1 and draw three cards, it will cost you $3 to draw.
The exception is if you decide to draw all five cards. If you draw all five cards, you must make the Call bet as well. Note that you will not be paid off on the Draw bets. These bets go directly to the house.
After drawing cards, you can decide whether to continue in the hand or fold. If you want to continue, you’ll make a Call bet equal to double the ante. For example, if your Ante is $1, your call bet is $2.
If you make the call bet, the dealer will show their cards and the hand goes to showdown. Like most poker table games, the dealer must qualify for your full bet to pay off.
Hand Payouts
The dealer must have at least A-K high to qualify. When the dealer fails to qualify, your Ante bet will pay 1 to 1 and your Raise bet will push.
When the dealer qualifies and you have the best hand, you win 1 to 1 on your Ante bet. The Raise will pay according to the following paytable:
Pair or Lower – 1 to 1
Two Pair – 2 to 1
Three of a Kind – 3 to 1
Straight – 4 to 1
Flush – 5 to 1
Full House – 7 to 1
Four of a Kind – 20 to 1
Straight Flush – 50 to 1
Royal Flush – 100 to 1
When to Swap Cards in Oasis Poker
Oasis Poker games at online casinos will allow you to swap up to five cards in any hand. While it may be a tempting play, the optimal strategy says you should never swap more than a single card.
Below are the instances where you will want to swap a single card:
Four to either straight flush or Royal Flush
Four to a flush when you don’t have a pair
An open-ended straight without a pair
Otherwise, you should stick with the hand dealt. Draw bets are non-payable, so only draw when the potential payouts are massive.
Generally, your only decision after receiving cards is whether to Call or Fold. This decision is remarkably simple for Oasis Poker. If your hand is less than A-K high, fold your hand. Otherwise, you will make the call.
The dealer has to have A-K to qualify, so calling with anything less than A-K is an automatic losing play.
Oasis Poker is available at House of Pokies and other Aussie online casinos. While it isn’t as popular as some poker table games, it is still a fun variant worth trying when you want a break from online pokies.
