Some people think that the zombie genre is getting a little tired. Netflix’s recent Army of the Dead did not do nearly as well as some hoped. Overall, outside of outliers like Black Summer, the zombie trope is getting a bit overdone. That’s why it is a bit surprising that Belatra Games recently released Zombie Town.
Zombie Town is the latest 5-Reel, 10 payline pokie game from Belatra Games. The game on the surface looks to be a fun, campy look at the zombie troupe, but overall, the game wouldn’t even make a good B movie.
Can You Survive Zombie Town?
Zombie Town is Belatra Games’ latest 5-Reel, 10 payline online pokie game. The game has a zombie theme where you’re trying to survive in a town overrun by the zombie apocalypse. The symbols for the game are pretty standard with Royals, axes, shotgun shells, burning cars, zombie hands, crows, and the remaining living citizens as the high-paying symbols.
The ax-wielding zombie is the wild for this game and substitutes for anything other than the scatter. He only appears on Reel 1 and can cover one, two, or all three rows.
Free Games Feature
The quarantine symbol is the scatter for this game. If the first reel is covered with the zombie wild and two quarantine symbols appear anywhere on the screen, you will unlock the free spins feature.
You’ll get 12 free games when you trigger the feature. The zombie will stand to the left of the board and any of the main characters or the crow will be turned into a sticky zombie wild once they land. They will remain on the board for the rest of your spins.
If you manage to land a wild on each reel, you will unlock five additional free spins. You can only get 17 free spins total. Should you land more than one wild on a reel, the wilds will become multiplier wilds. Two wilds on a reel give you a 2x multiplier. Three wilds give you a 3x multiplier, while four give you a 4x multiplier.
If you don’t want to wait to trigger this feature naturally, you can always buy the bonus.
Buy Bonus
This game has a buy bonus feature that allows you to buy the bonus for 34x your wager. Once you buy the bonus, the reels will spin to trigger the free games feature.
I was forced to buy the feature for this game to try it out. Sadly, the cost for the feature is not justified in the payout. Only once did I win enough to recover my bonus bet. One time I only won about 10% of my bonus bet.
Zombie Town Needs to Be Buried With the Zombie Trope
Sometimes you can tell from the cover art of a game that it’s going to suck. That’s the case for Zombie Town. This game wouldn’t even qualify for an episode of Z Nation, much less a horror-themed pokie. The base symbols are somewhat bland and the base game features are below average.
Then there’s the bonus feature. It is extremely difficult to trigger and once I was able to get to the feature, it was extremely disappointing. The main character symbols rarely came up and one time I didn’t catch a single wild during the free games feature.
I then found out why this game sucks so bad. It has an RTP of 90.13%. This is by far the lowest RTP of an online pokie game that I’ve seen in a while. Normally, this is where I’d tell you where to find this game. However, there are many other games at Australian online casinos worth playing. You’d be better off to play 7-5 video poker than to play this game. Avoid it at all costs.
