How to Play Triple Edge Poker
Triple Edge Poker is a poker table variant of Three Card Poker from Nucleus Gaming. You can find it at Australian online casinos. For those already familiar with table poker games, this game will be familiar.
For everyone else, Triple Edge Poker is a game you can pick up as quickly as Blackjack and is a fun alternative to Video Poker. Today, we will teach you how to play this game and give you the optimal strategy for Triple Edge Poker.
Rules of Triple Edge Poker
Triple Edge Poker is a three-card game of poker where the object is to beat the dealer’s hand. Prior to receiving cards, you can make up to two bets. The first is the Ante bet which is required to receive cards. You can also make a Pair Plus bet which is a side bet that pays off when you are dealt a hand containing a pair or better.
Once an Ante bet is placed, click on deal to receive cards. You’ll receive three cards face up while the dealer receives cards face down. At this point, you can decide whether to click Ride or to Fold. If you Fold, the hand ends immediately. When you click Ride, you will place a bet in the Call square equal to your Ante.
After the Ride bet is placed, the dealer’s hand will be revealed and winners determined.
Game Payouts
At showdown, your hand is compared against the dealer’s hand. In order for the Ride bet to pay off, the dealer must qualify with at least queen-high. If the dealer fails to qualify, then your Ante bet is paid at 1:1 while the Ride bet pushes.
When the dealer qualifies and your hand is superior, you will receive 1:1 on your Ante and the Ride bet also pays off at 1:1. This is a bit different than some Three Card Poker games that pay off according to hand strength.
However, this game does feature an Ante Bonus that pays off when your hand is a straight or better. Here’s the paytable for the Ante Bonus:
- Straight Flush – 5 to 1
- Three of a Kind – 4 to 1
- Straight – 1 to 1
For those that choose to play the Pair Plus side bet, you will receive a payout whenever you are dealt a pair or better. This is paid out even if the dealer beats your hand. The paytable for the Pair Plus bet is as follows:
- Straight Flush – 40 to 1
- Three of a Kind – 30 to 1
- Straight – 6 to 1
- Flush – 4 to 1
- Pair – 1 to 1
Strategy for Triple Edge Poker
The strategy for Triple Edge Poker is the same for all other Three Card Poker games. Whenever you get a Q-10-6 or better, you will bet the hand. For all other hands, you will fold. The reasoning behind this is that the dealer qualifies on queen-high. You cannot win on anything under queen-high.
Next, we normally recommend avoiding the Pair Plus bet for Three Card Poker games. However, the paytable for this game only gives the house a 2.32% house edge. This is one of the lower edges you’ll find on a side bet, so playing it isn’t as bad as with some games. Optimal strategy suggests you avoid this bet.
Triple Edge Poker can be found at Joka Room and any online casino in Australia offering games from Nucleus Gaming. You can learn the game in just a couple of minutes and using optimal strategy, you have the best chance of winning.
