The 2020 WSOP Online Main Event at GGPoker set a world record for the largest prize pool for an online poker tournament. A prize pool of $27.5 million was collected with the event eventually won by Stoyan Madanzhiev. He won $3.9 million and was considered by many to be the World Champion. That was until Caesars decided to host the hybrid WSOP Main Event eventually won by Damien Salas.
According to WSOP Director Gregory Chochon, “The bar has been set with last year’s record-breaking series, but we’re hoping to raise it even higher this year. One of our goals is to provide as many people the chance to become champions as possible. However, we know not everyone can or is comfortable traveling yet, so continuing a robust online bracelet offering in 2021 is a must.”
A full schedule of events will be released at a later date. One can expect the same mix of variants as last year, with events primarily being NL Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha.

Here’s a quick rundown of the events that will comprise the inaugural PokerGO Tour:
PokerGO Cup – Running from July 1st through July 10th, this new event will feature 8 tournaments to include a $100,000 NL Hold’em Event.
PokerGO Heads-Up Championship – This 32 player field will award $3.2 million in prize money and determine the top Heads-Up player.
Poker Masters – This event will run from September 13th through 24th and features 12 tournaments. Players will compete for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket.
Super High Roller Bowl – This $300,000 buy-in event kicks off on September 26th. It could prove one of the most lucrative live poker events of 2021.
Players will earn points for every in-the-money finish in events. Points are on a weighted scale, meaning that high money finishes in $10k events will carry more weight than in smaller field high buy-in events.
According to Mori Eskandani, PokerGO President, “The sport of poker is hundreds of years old and until now, there has not been a globally recognized tour and ranking system that establishes and celebrates the most elite players across the globe, so we started something we hope will evolve and grow.
